I’m a working mother of two kids, with two dogs and one husband. I wouldn’t change it for the world. However, the other day I looked in the mirror and I was like “What the “F” happened?” A wrinkle here, a muffin top there, and my hair??? Let’s just say I’ve let it go so long that it changes colors like candy corn….U-G-L-Y! Back in the day I was on schedule with getting my nails done, toes done, hair done, and I knew all the best places to go shop…at just the right time to hit all the sales! So what happened?
Hmmmm, something called life happened! Yea, I see all the Facebook post from all the stay at home moms that work their in-home business…and I applaud them. I love that they can work from their pool, take off any time to work out or get their hair done. However, that’s not my calling. I didn’t marry a rich man, and even if I did, I still don’t think I would have done anything different with my career choice. I love working out of the home, but it doesn’t give me time to work on myself. So one day I woke up and wondered how did I let this happen?
As a working mom I put everything I have into my kids, my job, my home, and if there is any energy left I may give a little to my husband….but it would be a very very little bit! So at the end of the day there isn’t any left for me. I don’t regret my life one bit, however, don’t I deserve a little bit for me?
Absolutely! I know I can’t be the only working mom out there thinking this. So how do we make time for ourselves without sacrificing the time you have for your kids, job, and husband? I’m sure that’s the million dollar question. I tried waking up at 4:00 am to do a workout, but my alarm kept forgetting to wake me up! I tried to find a hairdresser open on Sundays, but that seems to be impossible as well! So I decided that I needed to make time for me….and I mean not through sacrifice, but truly making time for myself.
To all the working moms out there…don’t forget to take time for yourself. You may have to pencil it in, or schedule a vacation day, or work out something with your boss…but figure it out! You deserve it! My solution is not taking a lunch a couple times a month so I can leave the office at 4:00 to go get my hair done, nails done, or whatever I have in store for myself. Then I’m not taking time away from my family or my work. It’s a compromise for me. So what will you do for yourself? Don’t be like me and wake up going “What the “f” happened?” Working moms out there need to show themselves some love too!!!
